Overview
What the diploma covers.
A structured, decision-focused programme across adult clinical cardiology, anchored to current ESC guidelines with ACC/AHA differences called out. Interventional, electrophysiology, imaging and surgical options are taught as Heart Team decisions, not procedural technique.
Modules
- 01Coronary disease and acute cardiac care (5 sessions)
Chronic coronary syndromes; acute coronary syndromes; revascularisation decisions; antithrombotic therapy and the perioperative cardiac consult; cardiogenic shock and cardiac arrest.
- 02Heart failure and cardiomyopathy (5 sessions)
HFrEF; HFpEF and HFmrEF; acute and advanced heart failure; cardiomyopathies and genetics; myocarditis, sarcoidosis and infiltrative disease.
- 03Arrhythmia and devices (5 sessions)
Atrial fibrillation; supraventricular tachycardia, flutter and pre-excitation; ventricular arrhythmia, sudden cardiac death and channelopathies; syncope, bradycardia and pacing; devices in practice.
- 04Valve, structural, aorta and pericardium (5 sessions)
Aortic stenosis and regurgitation; mitral and tricuspid disease; infective endocarditis and prosthetic valves; diseases of the aorta; pericardial disease and cardiac masses.
- 05Prevention and special populations (5 sessions)
Preventive cardiology; cardio-oncology; cardiovascular disease in pregnancy and women's heart health; adult congenital heart disease and interatrial shunts for the general cardiologist; pulmonary embolism, pulmonary hypertension and the right heart.
Learning outcomes
- Make guideline-concordant decisions across coronary disease, heart failure, arrhythmia, valve disease and prevention.
- Choose the right investigation for each clinical question and act on the result.
- Frame revascularisation, device, structural and surgical referrals as Heart Team decisions.
- Recognise the diagnoses a general cardiologist must not miss, from amyloid and acute aortic syndromes to endocarditis and inherited disease.
- Manage cardiovascular disease in pregnancy, during cancer therapy, in adult congenital heart disease and in the right heart.

FAQs
Common questions.
- Senior residents and fellows in cardiology, and consultants or attendings in their first years of practice, anywhere in the world. The teaching assumes a working clinical grounding and focuses on clinical decision-making.
- Entirely online, through 25 weekly live sessions on Mondays at 18:00 UK time. Every session is recorded, and the diploma is assessed through weekly MCQs and a final written paper.
- Every session is recorded and available on demand within the delegate portal. You can catch up at any point during the cohort.
- Plan for roughly two to three hours per week. That covers the live session, the weekly formative MCQ, and light preparation or recap.
- No. PCI, ablation, TAVI, devices and imaging are covered as decisions and referrals, not technique. Interventional, electrophysiology, imaging and surgical options are taught as Heart Team decisions.
- Current ESC guidelines, with ACC/AHA differences highlighted where they change practice.
