Overview
What the diploma covers.
A structured online programme covering the complete spectrum of shoulder and elbow surgery, from soft tissue and instability through arthroplasty, trauma and elbow reconstruction.
Modules
The diploma is structured across 5 modules and 25 weekly sessions across 5 modules.
- 01Shoulder, Soft Tissue and Rotator Cuff (5 sessions)
Anatomy and biomechanics, rotator cuff disease, massive and irreparable cuff tears, calcific tendinitis and AC joint pathology, long head of biceps.
- 02Shoulder Instability and the Throwing Shoulder (5 sessions)
Anterior instability and bone loss, Latarjet and bone block reconstruction, posterior and multidirectional instability, SLAP and the throwing shoulder, scapular dyskinesis.
- 03Shoulder Arthritis, Arthroplasty and Stiffness (5 sessions)
Glenohumeral OA and cuff tear arthropathy, anatomic TSA, reverse TSA, periprosthetic fracture and infection, adhesive capsulitis.
- 04Shoulder Trauma (5 sessions)
Proximal humerus fractures, reverse and hemiarthroplasty for trauma, clavicle and scapula fractures, AC and SC joint injuries, brachial plexus injury.
- 05Elbow (5 sessions)
Anatomy, biomechanics and arthroscopy, lateral and medial epicondylopathy, throwing elbow and UCL injury, elbow instability and fracture-dislocations, distal humerus, radial head and elbow arthroplasty.
Learning outcomes
- Master surgical anatomy and biomechanics of the shoulder and elbow.
- Apply current classifications and evidence to the management of cuff disease, instability and arthritis.
- Plan and execute anatomic and reverse shoulder arthroplasty across primary and revision contexts.
- Manage acute and chronic elbow pathology including instability, fracture-dislocation and arthroplasty.
- Prepare for fellowship exams with structured, case-based teaching.
