- Doctors who want structured, case-based teaching in their specialty. The Orthopaedic Diplomas are aimed at senior orthopaedic residents, fellows in the relevant subspecialty, newly appointed consultants and associate specialists; each diploma in another specialty sets out its audience on its own page. The teaching assumes a working clinical grounding and focuses on decision-making, practical detail and exam preparation.
- Live on Zoom, one evening a week, with the same group of delegates throughout. Each session is a 45-minute talk built around cases from a practising specialist, then 10 to 15 minutes of questions from the group. Every session is recorded, so a week you miss can be caught up.
- Plan for roughly two to three hours per week. That covers the one-hour live session, the weekly formative MCQ, and light preparation or recap.
- Every session is recorded and available on demand within the delegate portal. You can catch up at any point during the cohort.
- No. Every session is taught live by a named practising specialist, to the same group of delegates each week, and you can put your questions to them before the session ends. Recordings are there for the weeks you cannot attend, not instead of the live teaching.
- No. PMI diplomas are professional development programmes. They are not awarded by, affiliated with, or accredited by any university or higher education institution, and completion does not confer an academic qualification. The Orthopaedic Diplomas are co-developed by JBJS and delivered by PMI.
- For the Orthopaedic Diplomas, yes: every current Orthopaedic Diploma is CME-accredited. The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Inc. (JBJS) is accredited by the ACCME to provide AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ for physicians. Credit is designated per diploma, and UK CPD is recognised on the same basis. Diplomas in other specialties set out their own CPD arrangements on their pages.
- Weekly formative MCQs run throughout the year, with a final written diploma assessment at the end. Successful delegates receive a certificate of completion.
- Open the diploma page of interest and complete the application form when applications are open. Applicants proceed directly to payment. If a discount code is requested, the application is held for review and a personalised payment link is sent once approved.
- Payment is taken in full at enrolment through a secure Stripe checkout. Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay are supported. If payment in full is a barrier, contact us at info@pmdiplomas.com.
- Each Orthopaedic Diploma is £840, except Orthopaedic Oncology at £940, covering the full cohort. While the Adult and Paediatric Trauma diplomas are enrolling together they are also offered as a bundle for £1,195, less than the two separately. Diplomas in other specialties show their fee on their own page. Discounts are considered for applicants from under-resourced regions and in other special circumstances.
- Scholarships are available for doctors practising in low and lower-middle income countries and in countries affected by conflict. Discounts are also considered in other special circumstances. See our Contact page for how to apply. Go to the Contact page.
- If you are a consumer, you can cancel within 14 days of enrolling for a full refund, provided your cohort has not yet started. After that, cancellations more than 30 days before the cohort start date are refunded less a £150 administration fee, and no refund is available within 30 days of the start date. If we cancel a cohort, you receive a full refund; if we reschedule it to dates that do not suit you, you can choose between a full refund and a transfer to a future cohort. - A modern laptop or tablet, a stable internet connection, and Zoom. Recordings play in any modern browser. No specialist software is required.
- Recordings are available for the duration of the cohort and for a period afterwards while the delegate remains enrolled. Specific retention terms are confirmed at enrolment.
- PMI is the dedicated delivery partner for the Orthopaedic Diplomas. PMI was founded by Professor Tom Cosker (Oxford) and Mr Sherief Elsayed (Dubai), who have been formally working together in postgraduate medical education since 2006. The diplomas are co-developed with The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, the leading academic journal in orthopaedics. JBJS provides the academic anchor. PMI runs the programme: faculty coordination, content delivery, accreditation pathways, and the technology that runs each cohort.
- The Orthopaedic Diplomas are structured online programmes, clinician-led. They are not lecture libraries or weekend courses. Every session is taught live by the surgeons who operate on these cases every week, and delegates question them in the session.
- Yes. Cardiology is the first, and PMI is also developing diplomas for physician associates and operating room personnel and in rheumatology, regenerative medicine and other fields. They are PMI Diplomas, separate from the Orthopaedic Diplomas and outside the JBJS partnership. Register interest on the diplomas page to hear first when dates are confirmed.
