The Adult and Paediatric Trauma Bundle combines two complete JBJS diplomas into a single enrolment, covering trauma across the whole age range, from the polytraumatised adult to the injured child.

It suits trauma and orthopaedic surgeons who manage both adult and paediatric injuries, and trainees who want full trauma coverage before fellowship. The Adult Trauma Diploma runs the adult curriculum from polytrauma resuscitation through definitive fixation and complications. The Paediatric Trauma Diploma covers injury in the immature skeleton, from the growth plate to the supracondylar fracture and the paediatric spine. Each diploma is delivered in full as its own live, online cohort with on-demand access, and each is assessed and certificated in its own right. Together they total 30 live sessions across 8 modules.

Curriculum

The combined trauma curriculum.

The bundle curriculum is the union of the two diplomas, taught as two tracks: adult trauma across 5 modules and 18 sessions, and paediatric trauma across 3 modules and 12 sessions.

Adult Trauma track

A structured online programme covering the adult orthopaedic trauma curriculum from polytrauma resuscitation through definitive fixation, complications and special populations. The curriculum runs from principles and pelvic trauma through the upper and lower limbs, with a dedicated wrist session and a final module on non-union, periprosthetic fracture, infection and geriatric trauma. Carpal injuries are covered separately in the Hand Diploma.

    Principles and Polytrauma (4 sessions)

    Damage control orthopaedics and the physiology of injury; open fractures and the orthoplastic approach; compartment syndrome, vascular injury and the mangled extremity; fracture biology, healing and the principles of fixation.

  2. 02
    Pelvis and Acetabulum (2 sessions)

    Pelvic ring injuries from acute resuscitation through definitive percutaneous and open fixation; acetabular fractures from Letournel classification through surgical approaches, fixation and acute total hip arthroplasty in the elderly.

    Upper Limb Trauma (3 sessions)

    Clavicle, scapula, proximal humerus and humeral shaft; distal humerus, elbow and forearm; a dedicated session on distal radius and wrist injuries. Carpal injuries are covered in the Hand Diploma.

    Lower Limb Trauma (5 sessions)

    Hip fractures (intracapsular and extracapsular); femoral shaft and ipsilateral neck-shaft fractures; distal femur and knee periarticular trauma; tibial plateau, shaft and pilon fractures; ankle and foot trauma including Lisfranc.

    Complications and Special Populations (4 sessions)

    Non-union and malunion reconstruction; periprosthetic fractures; fracture-related infection; geriatric trauma, frailty and fragility fractures (including sacral insufficiency and fragility pelvic ring injuries).

Paediatric Trauma track

A structured online programme covering the assessment and surgical management of injury in the immature skeleton. The diploma is pitched at ST6+ trainees and post-CCT surgeons, including adult orthopaedic consultants who see paediatric trauma in district general hospitals.

    Foundations (3 sessions)

    Growth plate biology, Salter-Harris and the immature skeleton; non-accidental injury recognition, imaging and the medico-legal interface; paediatric polytrauma, ATLS, resuscitation and the trauma team.

  2. 02
    High-Volume Conditions (6 sessions)

    Supracondylar humerus fractures; lateral condyle, medial epicondyle and the paediatric elbow; forearm and wrist trauma; femoral and hip trauma; tibial and ankle trauma; pelvic and acetabular trauma.

  3. 03
    Niche But Critical (3 sessions)

    Paediatric spine trauma; open fractures, compartment syndrome and infection in children; failed treatment, malunion and late presentations.

Learning outcomes

Across both diplomas, on completion you will be able to:

  • Apply ATLS principles and damage control orthopaedics to the polytrauma patient.
  • Classify and manage fractures across all anatomical regions using current evidence-based algorithms.
  • Recognise and manage complications including non-union, fracture-related infection and periprosthetic fracture.
  • Apply principles of trauma care to fragility and geriatric injury contexts.
  • Prepare for fellowship exams with structured, case-based teaching.
  • Recognise and manage injuries specific to the immature skeleton, including physeal and apophyseal trauma.
  • Apply paediatric-modified resuscitation principles to the polytrauma child.
  • Identify and act on non-accidental injury, including imaging, safeguarding referral and report-writing.
  • Manage the high-volume conditions seen by every clinician treating paediatric trauma, including supracondylar fractures, forearm injuries and femoral and tibial trauma.
  • Recognise and manage rarer but high-stakes paediatric injuries, including spine trauma, open fractures and complications of failed treatment.

Bundle questions.

What does the bundle include?
Both the Adult Trauma Diploma and the Paediatric Trauma Diploma, each delivered in full: every live session, on-demand recordings and the written assessment. You are enrolled on both.
Do I get two separate certificates?
Yes. Each diploma is assessed in its own right, so you finish with two Certificates of Completion, one for the Adult Trauma Diploma and one for the Paediatric Trauma Diploma.
Is CME accreditation included for both diplomas?
Yes. Both diplomas are CME-accredited. The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Inc. (JBJS) is accredited by the ACCME to provide AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ for physicians, and credit is designated on each diploma separately. UK CPD is recognised on the same basis.
Can I enrol in the two diplomas separately?
Yes. The Adult Trauma Diploma is £840 and the Paediatric Trauma Diploma is £840, each available on its own diploma page. The bundle is the discounted way to take both.
I already own one diploma, can I still take the bundle?
Yes. The bundle covers both diplomas, so already owning one is no problem. To avoid paying twice for the diploma you hold, email info@pmdiplomas.com before purchasing and we will arrange the second one for you.
Who are the diplomas designed for?
Senior orthopaedic residents, fellows in the relevant subspecialty, newly appointed consultants, and associate specialists. The teaching assumes a working clinical grounding and focuses on decision-making, operative detail and exam preparation.
How are the diplomas delivered?
Entirely online, with structured weekly live seminars. Every session has full on-demand access so delegates who cannot attend live can catch up on their own schedule. The two diplomas run as separate cohorts, each with its own start date.
How much time per week should I allocate?
Plan for roughly two to three hours per week per diploma. That covers the one-hour live session, the weekly formative MCQ, and light preparation or recap. Because the two diplomas run as separate cohorts, the workload does not overlap.
What does the assessment involve?
Each diploma runs weekly formative MCQs throughout its cohort, with a final written assessment at the end. Each is assessed independently, and successful delegates receive a certificate of completion for each.
What if I miss a live session?
Every session is recorded and available on demand within the delegate portal. You can catch up at any point during the cohort.
Is this an academic qualification or degree?
No. The Orthopaedic Diplomas are professional development programmes co-developed by JBJS and delivered by PMI. They are not awarded by, affiliated with, or accredited by any university or higher education institution. Completion does not confer an academic qualification.
What is the refund policy?
If you are a consumer, you can cancel within 14 days of enrolling for a full refund, provided your cohort has not yet started. After that, cancellations more than 30 days before the cohort start date are refunded less a £150 administration fee, and no refund is available within 30 days of the start date. If we cancel a cohort, you receive a full refund; if we reschedule it to dates that do not suit you, you can choose between a full refund and a transfer to a future cohort.
